After a successful show in Anniston, Alabama featuring Eve Plumb (The Brady Bunch), Maxwell Caulfield (Dynasty, Grease 2) and Kaylin Hedges (Annie) among the cast, Wonkybot Studios today announced plans for additional Tara Tremendous The Musical concerts in 2018.
“We got a standing ovation which was very encouraging,” said Todd Fisher, co-founder of Wonkybot Studios and one of the concert’s producer. “At the private Q/A afterwards, so many people come up and asked us about doing additional shows. Well, we’re moving in that direction!”
The Tara Tremendous The Musical concert was conceived as a workshop show featuring highlights of the story and songs from the full-length production. It was performed at the Anniston Performing Arts Center in Anniston, Alabama, with Spooky Troop (another Wonkybot Studios property) as the pre-show lead in.
Both shows were created and written by Stewart St John, with music by St John and Michael Plahuta.
Tara Tremendous The Musical is based on Wonkybot’s #1 iTunes kids/family podcast series The Secret Diaries of Tara Tremendous about Tara Callahan, a bubbly, brave and headstrong 11-year-old girl who goes from ordinary to extraordinary overnight when she’s accidentally infused with the powers of every superhero in the world. Now this spunky, imaginative, inquisitive, sweet and adventurous little girl can summon any power she wants — but before she can become a hero, she’ll have to survive her controlling grandmother, a school of super kids… and a super villain determined to destroy the planet.
Wonkybot Studios produced the first Tara Tremendous workshop concert last March at Feinstein’s/54 Below starring Micky Dolenz (The Monkees), Annie Golden (Orange Is The New Black), Bart Shatto (Les Miserables) and a host of other Broadway stars. The show earned a standing ovation and a Cast Album was released in September by the Wonkybot Studios label.
“The goal of our company is to create inspiring, uplifting, empowering content for kids and families to enjoy together,” said creator and co-composer Stewart St John, an award-winning writer whose background has been primarily in children and family television. “That’s the intention for each of these new properties we’re creating and developing.”
Wonkybot has also released the first promo for the concert featuring Kaylin Hedges in the role of Tara Tremendous.
