Wonkybot is thrilled to announce Broadway veteran Mary Stout has been cast to play Mayor Evelyn Callahan, the scheming, controlling grandmother of Tara Callahan in the special one-night concert performance of Tara Tremendous The Musical at Feinstein’s/54 Below on March 28th.
“We’re beyond excited to have Mary on board to play Evelyn,” said Stewart St John, creator of the Tara Tremendous franchise and co-composer (with Michael Plahuta) of the musical. “She’s a broadway vet who brings the perfect mix of wicked fun to the role of Tara’s duplicitous grandmother — and just wait until you hear her sing these songs! It’s going to be a fantastic night in New York City!”
Stout is a Broadway veteran having appeared in JANE EYRE, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, MY FAVORITE YEAR, ME AND MY GIRL, COPPERFIELD, and A CHANGE IN THE HEIR. She has numerous Off-Broadway (FAR FROM HEAVEN) and Regional credits – most recently ME AND MY GIRL at the Maltz Jupiter theatre, STEEL MAGNOLIAS at Cleveland Playhouse and MOON OVER BUFFALO at the Gulfshore Playhouse.
Television audiences may remember her as “Eugenia Bremer” in AMC’s first original series REMEMBER WENN. Upcoming television appearances include UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT and ODD MOM OUT. Keep your internet eye open for the debut of NUNSENSE – the TV series – in which she is the Mother Superior.
Tara Tremendous The Musical tells the origin story of 11-year-old Tara Callahan who goes from ordinary to extraordinary overnight when she accidentally inherits the powers of every superhero in the world. The musical features songs by the musical team of Stewart St John and Michael Plahuta. It was adapted for the stage by St John, also a screenwriter and director, based on his #1 iTunes podcast series The Secret Diaries of Tara Tremendous. The musical concert performance at Feinstein’s/54 Below is the first stop for Tara Tremendous.
