4-Part Limited-Run Podcast Features New Story and Brand New Songs For The Whole Family
Following the success of its monster-themed podcast series Spooky Troop: A Halloween Special, kids and family production and publishing company Wonkybot Studios has whipped up a 4-part sequel adventure with Spooky Troop: A Christmas Special.
The audio adventure story featuring an ensemble voice cast, special effects, original songs and music is available on iTunes and Wonkybot.com beginning today and airing every Thursday through December.
Spooky Troop promotes positive values for kids like teamwork, honesty, integrity and friendship. The series revolves around seven supernatural friends born good in a wicked world (the United Netherworld); in this holiday-themed story, the cast of adorable characters — Valerie the Vampire, Stewart the Sorcerer, Willie the Werewolf, Zianna the Zombie, Todd the Oddbot, Delilah the Demon and Michael the Monster — are reluctant to find the joy in their world’s “Scary Christmas”. Why’s that? Because Scary Christmas in the Netherworld is a horrorday known as the “season of greed”, a time for taking from each other!
“Naturally they’re resistant to the idea of stealing from each other,” says Spooky Troop creator, writer, director and song composer Stewart St John. “So, after Willie the Werewolf has an encounter with a magical elf who mentions something called the ‘Spirit of Christmas’, he becomes intrigued and sets off on a journey with the rest of the Spooky Troop to uncover the truth about why Christmas has been absent from the United Netherworld!”
Returning to the holiday-themed installment are the international cast of original kids who voiced the Halloween special: Maia McLachlan as Valerie, Jacob King as Stewart, William Abernathy as Willie, Rebecca King as Delilah, Max Kazanjian as Michael and Ramsey Whitney as Zianna. Also reprising their roles are the adult cast: Mia Moravis as Octavia, Chris McCartie as Count Vinchent, Steve King as Mayor Tullabub, Chris Abernathy as Walter, Trevor Sewell as General Klick, Heather Brooker as Winnie, and Stewart St John as the Demon King.
Three new songs will be featured in the series, including “Magical Time of the Year” featured in the premiere episode. The song is composed by Stewart St John and Michael Plahuta and performed by Kellian Smith. “Magical Time of the Year” is available for digital download from the Wonkybot website today.
