BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Wonkybot Studios is thrilled to announce that 10-year-old performer Kaylin Hedges has been cast in the starring role of Tara Tremendous in the upcoming one-night concert performance of Tara Tremendous The Musical to be presented at the Anniston Performing Arts Center in Anniston, Alabama.
Produced by Wonkybot Studios, show time is November 2 at 7 PM. Tickets are now available at wonkybot.com
Kaylin, a multi-talented singer, dancer and actress, was just cast in Kris Kringle The Musical starring Tony nominee Cathy Rigby, Pamela Myers (Into The Woods) and Andrew Kennan Bolger (Tuck Everlasting), and most recently performed as Annie in the Westchester Broadway Theater production of Annie Warbucks.
“I’m so excited to be playing Tara Tremendous in the Alabama concert,” said Kaylin. “I love the songs, and the things I love about Tara are that she’s kind, she’s responsible, and she teaches you anyone can be a hero!”
Tara Tremendous The Musical Concert features an original book and lyrics by Stewart St John and music by St John and Michael Plahuta.
“We couldn’t be happier to welcome Kaylin to the Tara Tremendous fold,” said St John. “Kaylin’s energy and vocal range is incredible. She brings a wonderful new take on Tara that we’re very excited to showcase!”
Kaylin becomes the fourth girl to play Tara Tremendous since the launch of the franchise in 2015. An album of songs from the podcast was released in 2016, and a Studio Cast Recording featuring the Broadway stars who performed in the one-night NYC concert performance was released this past September.
Based on Wonkybot’s #1 Kids & Family iTunes musical podcast series, Tara Tremendous tells the story of an ordinary girl who becomes extraordinary after she accidentally acquires the powers of every superhero in the world.
“It’s the story of a young girl on a journey of self-discovery,” added St John. “It’s about finding your voice, standing up for what you believe in, and not backing down. It’s a show for the whole family — positive, uplifting and particularly relevant in the times we live.”
Tara Tremendous The Musical Concert will present select tunes from the full-production version of the show.
“These concert performances are a really fun way to raise awareness of the Tara brand,” added Todd Fisher, producer of the show and co-founder of Wonkybot Studios. “It also gives us an opportunity to feature new talent in different roles as we prepare to workshop the full-length show.”
Spooky Troop In Concert, a musical pre-show based on Wonkybot’s audio books series Spooky Troop, will open the Tara Tremendous concert and feature many local performers from the Alabama area in key roles. The show features an original book and lyrics by Stewart St John and music by St John and Michael Plahuta.
“We believe that there is so much undiscovered and untapped talent out there,” explained St John. “We want to use Spooky Troop as a way to find those talented folks and put them on the stage for everyone to see.”
Spooky Troop is about seven supernatural friends living in another realm filled with creatures and monsters who are at war with each other. When the friends discover the Demon King’s plot to bring destruction to the the third dimension, they come together to stop him.
“Spooky Troop, like Tara Tremendous, is a show for the whole family, filled with positive messages about standing up for yourself and doing the right thing,” added St John. “It’s also got some great songs that I think people will enjoy!”
The 90-minute musical evening is presented by Wonkybot Studios with support from CAST Theater, CharACTer Entertainment, Kimberlite Productions, The Music Box and Knox Concert Series. Produced by Todd Fisher, Stewart St John, and Michael Plahuta. Co-Produced by Emmalie Whitney.
Stay tuned for further casting announcements coming this week.
