Wonkybot Studios has cast Broadway and television star Annie Golden as Dr. Epic’s mother, “Epic Mama” in the one-night concert performance of Tara Tremendous The Musical at Feinstein’s/54 Below on March 28th.
“Annie is a mesmerizing, incredible talent with an out-of-this-world voice,” said Stewart St John, creator/writer of the Tara Tremendous franchise, who adapted the project for the stage and is lyricist and co-composer of the songs with partner Michael Plahuta. “We’re thrilled to have her on board this special concert performance!”
Golden will play Epic Mama, the alley-cat, saloon-singer who regrets giving up a life of crime to raise her only son, the little genius who grew up to become infamous villain Dr. Epic. Jealous of her son’s fame, Epic Mama is scheming to make up for lost time.
Golden’s credits include Broadway’s The Full Monty, Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical, Xanadu and Violet. Off-Broadway she replaced Ellen Greene in the original production of Little Shop of Horrors.
Golden joins an incredible roster of talent for the preview concert, including Micky Dolenz (The Monkees), MiMi Ryder (Matilda The Musical), Kecia Lewis (Cinderella), Mary Stout (Beauty & The Beast), Brian Charles Rooney and Bart Shatto to name a few.
Tara Tremendous The Musical tells the origin story of 11-year-old Tara Callahan who goes from ordinary to extraordinary overnight when she accidentally inherits the powers of every superhero in the world. The musical features songs by the musical team of Stewart St John and Michael Plahuta. It was adapted for the stage by St John, also a screenwriter and director, based on his #1 iTunes podcast series The Secret Diaries of Tara Tremendous. The musical concert performance at Feinstein’s/54 Below is the first stop for Tara Tremendous.
