BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Wonkybot Studios is excited to announce that 12-year-old actress/singer Ramsey Whitney will join the cast of Tara Tremendous in the upcoming one-night concert performance of Tara Tremendous The Musical to be presented at the Anniston Performing Arts Center in Anniston, Alabama.
Produced by Wonkybot Studios, show time is November 2 at 7 PM. Tickets are now available at www.wonkybot.com
Ramsey, an Anniston, Alabama native, will reprise her role as Lydia Benedict — Tara’s nefarious, spoiled cousin — a role which she originated last March in the NYC concert performance at world-renowned Feinstein’s/54 Below where she sang alongside Broadway vets like Micky Dolenz, Annie Golden and Bart Shatto.
“I’m so excited that Tara Tremendous is coming to my hometown,” said Ramsey. “I want everyone I know to experience what a fun, positive, uplifting show this is. And people are going to love Stewart and Michael’s music!”
A veteran of the stage since age 4, Ramsey recently wrapped filming on a feature film shooting in Atlanta, is currently shooting an educational series for public television, and was previously seen on stage in Red Mountain Theatre Company’s School of Rock. She continues to audition for commercials and television shows and has appeared in several TV spots over the last few years.
Wonkybot chose to launch the concert in Anniston because of the enormous support the project has garnered from the town, which represents the true message of what Tara Tremendous is all about.
“By bringing Tara Tremendous to Anniston we’re making this a community event,” explained Todd Fisher, producer and co-founder of family production, publishing and music company Wonkybot Studios. “We’ve felt so much love from the folks in Anniston that when the opportunity presented itself we decided to launch the concert there.”
In Tara Tremendous The Musical, Ramsey’s Lydia is a girl who has been raised in wealth and glamour all her life, and spoiled by her grandmother who’s also the mayor of fictional Big City. When she meets her sweet cousin Tara (played by Kaylin Hedges) the sparks fly between them.
Tara Tremendous The Musical Concert features an original book and lyrics by Stewart St John and music by St John and Michael Plahuta. It’s based on Wonkybot’s #1 Kids & Family iTunes musical podcast series about an ordinary girl who becomes extraordinary after she accidentally acquires the powers of every superhero in the world.
“It’s the story of a young girl on a journey of self-discovery,” added St John. “It’s about finding your voice, standing up for what you believe in, and not backing down. It’s a show for the whole family — positive, uplifting and particularly relevant in the times we live.”
Tara Tremendous The Musical Concert will present select tunes from the full-production version of the show.
“These concert performances are a really fun way to raise awareness of the Tara brand,” added Todd Fisher, producer of the show and co-founder of Wonkybot Studios. “It also gives us an opportunity to feature new talent in different roles as we prepare to workshop the full-length show.”
Spooky Troop In Concert, a musical pre-show based on Wonkybot’s audio books series Spooky Troop, will open the Tara Tremendous concert and feature many local performers from the Alabama area in key roles. The show features an original book and lyrics by Stewart St John and music by St John and Michael Plahuta.
“We believe that there is so much undiscovered and untapped talent out there,” explained St John. “We want to use Spooky Troop as a way to find those talented folks and put them on the stage for everyone to see.”
Spooky Troop is about seven supernatural friends living in another realm filled with creatures and monsters who are at war with each other. When the friends discover the Demon King’s plot to bring destruction to the the third dimension, they come together to stop him.
“Spooky Troop, like Tara Tremendous, is a show for the whole family, filled with positive messages about standing up for yourself and doing the right thing,” added St John. “It’s also got some great songs that I think people will enjoy!”
The 90-minute musical evening is presented by Wonkybot Studios with support from CAST Theater, CharACTer Entertainment, Kimberlite Productions, The Music Box and Knox Concert Series. Produced by Todd Fisher, Stewart St John, and Michael Plahuta. Co-Produced by Emmalie Whitney.
Stay tuned for further casting announcements coming this week.
