LOS ANGELES, CA, July 3, 2019 — Tara Tremendous: The Secret Diaries has added three more cast members to the upcoming ‘Genesis’ (Season 1) chapter: 15-year-old Anna Bella Foster, 18-year-old Ethan Turbyfill and 15-year-old Annie Rader.
“Tara Tremendous: The Secret Diaries – Genesis”, comprised of 12 episodes, is set to premiere July 8th on Apple Podcasts, Wonkybot.com, Spotify and other audio streaming platforms. Look for the series to also release on Pinna, the premiere audio-on-demand streaming service for kids. The prequel story will reveal how Wonkybot’s popular Gen Z superheroine acquired the powers of every superhero in the world — and beyond.
“We’re so excited to welcome Anna Bella, Ethan and Annie to the cast of this brand new chapter,” said Stewart St John, creator/writer/producer and co-composer of the series. “They’re incredibly talented, focused and inspiring, and extremely passionate about their craft — and love what they do.”
Anna Bella Foster will play Rebecca Miller, Tara Callahan’s arch rival at school, while Ethan Turbyfill’s role as “the boy from nowhere” is shrouded in mystery and slowly revealed as the series progresses. Annie Rader plays Tara Callahan’s uppity cousin Maci DuPont, a superficial mean girl who finds Tara “ordinary” — and lets her know it.
“What a thrill to be cast in such an empowering, positive and fun show,” said Foster. “I think the message behind Tara Tremendous — that real strength isn’t just about having super powers, it’s about what you have in your heart — is so cool.” Foster, who starred in Wonkybot’s live stage performance of Spooky Troop in 2017, was recently seen as Baby June in Gypsy, Sophie in School of Rock, and Tessie in Annie. Her performance as Mary Lennox in The Secret Garden earned her rave reviews, and she recently made her film debut in the movie Union. BroadwayWorld named her 2016’s Best Local Actress in a Musical.
“I had such an amazing experience getting to be part of Tara Tremendous: Genesis,” said the multi-talented Turbyfill. “Not only did I gain professional insight from the project but I also got to stretch myself creatively and artistically which was so much fun!” A gifted singer and rising young actor, Turbyfill is currently on stage starring as Link in Hairspray, and recently appeared as the Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz and Gaston in Beauty and The Beast.
“I’m so excited to be part of the Tara Tremendous series,” said Rader. “It has been so much fun to do!” Rader, a talented young performer with an accomplished background in both television and stage, began her acting career at age four and has appeared in many television commercials including work for Dollywood, and is active in several theater troupes appearing in over 15 stage productions including “Shrek the Musical, Jr”, “Into the Woods, Jr” and “Singing in the Rain”.
Centered around a feisty, headstrong and socially conscious tween named Tara Callahan whose life is forever changed after becoming imbued with the powers of every superhero in the world (superheroes existing in St John’s ‘Tremendous-Verse’), the series — which shot to #1 in the Kids & Family category on Apple Podcasts when it originally launched — features an ongoing storyline, captivating sound design and original songs and score composed by St John and musical partner Michael Plahuta.
Through dialogue, sound effects and music, Wonkybot Studios transports listeners into Tara’s exciting universe where they’ll discover a full-cast of characters, thrilling soundscapes, background music score and fully produced original songs.
“Wonkybot Studios is taking a timeless format, the audio play, and injecting it with special audio effects and magnificent music that will fully engage listeners in a fantastical escape anywhere and anytime,” added Michael Plahuta, Co-Founder, Wonkybot Studios and Co-Composer of Tara Tremendous: The Secret Diaries. “Audio stories spark the imaginations of young listeners and open their creativity in describing the characters, environments and storylines in their mind’s eye — and I’m excited to be a part of that energy and mission.”
Wonkybot Studios is in development on several other family-themed audio series and is set to share more exciting news on multiple fronts in the coming weeks.
