Company Set To Explore New Possibilities for the First Scripted Broadband Soap as Interest Grows in Vertical and Mobile-First Storytelling
LOS ANGELES, CA., Wednesday, June 24, 2026 — Wonkybot Entertainment announced today that California Heaven, the pioneering digital drama created by Wonkybot co-founder Stewart St. John and produced by St. John and Wonkybot partner Todd Fisher, has joined the company’s growing portfolio of creator-owned entertainment properties.
The move comes as Wonkybot continues to expand its portfolio of creator-owned intellectual property across animation, podcasts, publishing, cinematic audio, and emerging forms of mobile-first storytelling.
Originally released in 2006, California Heaven was the first scripted serialized drama created specifically for broadband internet audiences, years before streaming platforms became mainstream. Set within the glamorous world of the Corrigans — a powerful Malibu family whose international surf, swimwear and lifestyle brand made them one of Southern California’s most influential dynasties— the series followed Heaven Taylor Corrigan as she investigated the mysterious death of her mother and uncovered long-buried secrets threatening both the family and the empire they had built.
While online video was still in its infancy, California Heaven explored serialized storytelling, audience engagement, and multi-platform narrative techniques that would later become common throughout the entertainment industry.
“California Heaven is incredibly valuable intellectual property with enormous untapped potential,” said St. John. “When I created the series, Todd and I were building for a future that hadn’t quite arrived yet. We were experimenting with serialized storytelling, companion content, and audience engagement strategies that are now commonplace across streaming, social media, and mobile platforms. Twenty years later, we’re living in a world that finally understands and embraces those kinds of experiences, which creates exciting new opportunities for California Heaven across television, publishing, licensing, format adaptations, and the rapidly growing world of mobile-first entertainment.”
In addition to its weekly dramatic episodes, St. John also created an innovative companion series presented through the perspective of a fictional documentary crew embedded within the world of the show. Through character interviews, behind-the-scenes interactions, and ongoing story extensions, audiences were able to engage with the fictional world between episodes — an early example of the kind of multi-platform audience engagement that has since become commonplace across streaming, social media, and mobile-first entertainment.
The property represents an important chapter in a broader history of digital storytelling innovation. Prior to California Heaven, St. John and Fisher helped revive the pioneering online series The Spot and later launched The Spot Wireless for Sprint PCS Vision-enabled mobile phones, creating one of the entertainment industry’s earliest synchronized web-and-mobile narrative experiences.
At a time when mobile carriers largely focused on ringtones and wallpaper downloads, The Spot Wireless delivered serialized premium entertainment directly to mobile subscribers through daily story installments that expanded the narrative unfolding online. The project foreshadowed many of the storytelling and audience engagement models now commonplace across streaming, social media, and mobile platforms.
“As audience habits continue evolving toward mobile-first and serialized viewing experiences, it’s interesting to see how many of the concepts explored during that era remain relevant today,” said Todd Fisher, co-founder of Wonkybot Entertainment. “The technology has changed dramatically, but the desire for compelling characters, ongoing story worlds, and direct audience engagement remains exactly the same.”
California Heaven joins a growing roster of St John’s creator-owned properties at Wonkybot, including Tara Tremendous, The Swines, Origins Unknown, and the company’s expanding slate of premium vertical dramas and mobile-first entertainment initiatives.
Wonkybot confirmed that it is actively exploring opportunities for the California Heaven property, including remastering initiatives, archival releases, licensing opportunities, format adaptations, and new creative development inspired by the original series and its characters.
The announcement reflects Wonkybot’s ongoing commitment to preserving creator-owned intellectual property while identifying new opportunities for those properties across emerging entertainment platforms and formats.
Founded by Stewart St. John, Todd Fisher, and Michael Plahuta, Wonkybot Entertainment develops original animation, podcasts, publishing, cinematic audio experiences, and digital entertainment franchises. The company’s projects have reached audiences worldwide and continue to explore innovative approaches to storytelling across traditional and emerging media.
