4-Part Limited-Run Podcast Features A Thrilling Holiday Story For The Whole Family

LOS ANGELES, CA, November 28, 2018 — Following the success of its monster-themed podcast series SPOOKY TROOP: THE LAST HALLOWEEN, Wonkybot Studios has produced a 4-part sequel adventure, SPOOKY TROOP: A VERY SCARY CHRISTMAS. All episodes are now available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, RadioPublic, Stitcher and Wonkybot.com.

Created, written and directed by award-winning television writer Stewart St John with original songs, score and rich sound design by St John and Michael Plahuta, A VERY SCARY CHRISTMAS finds the seven supernatural tween friends Valerie the Vampire, Stewart the Sorcerer, Willie the Werewolf, Zianna the Zombie, Todd the Oddbot, Delilah the Demon and Michael the Monster, reluctant to find joy in their world’s horrorday known as the “season of greed”.

They soon discover a holiday known as ‘Christmas’ and set off on a journey to uncover the truth about why it’s been absent from the United Netherworld, bringing them face to face with the Demon King and his plot to turn Santa’s elves into his dark Elf Army.

A VERY SCARY CHRISTMAS plays out over four magical episodes and features an international voice cast, special effects, original songs and music. All episodes are immediately available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, RadioPublic, Google Play and Wonkybot.com through December.

“It’s a movie for the ears,” said St John. “We intentionally produced it as an audio adventure series for the podcast platform, so the story really comes alive in the imagination as you listen to it unfold over multiple episodes.”

Spooky Troop promotes positive values for kids like teamwork, honesty, integrity and friendship. Returning to the holiday-themed installment are the international cast of kids who voiced the Halloween special: Maia McLachlan as Valerie, Jacob King as Stewart, William Abernathy as Willie, Rebecca King as Delilah, Max Kazanjian as Michael and Ramsey Whitney as Zianna.

Three songs will be featured in the series, including “Magical Time of the Year” featured in the premiere episode. The song is composed by Stewart St John and Michael Plahuta and performed by Kellian.

In 2017 Wonkybot Studios launched a live stage musical performance of Spooky Troop and is currently developing a full stage musical. And in 2018, Wonkybot Press released a picture book, Spooky Troop And The Buried Treasure, based on the franchise and featuring the younger versions of the characters.

“We’re thrilled to welcome podcast lovers to this thrilling chapter in the Spooky Troop universe,” said Todd Fisher, co-producer of Spooky Troop. “A Very Scary Christmas” speaks to both kids and grown ups, regardless of color, race or economic backgrounds and continues our efforts to create and produce positive content for kids across all media platforms.”
