Stewart St John & Michael Plahuta Release Family Holiday Album ‘Spooky Troop: A Very Scary Christmas Soundtrack’

Wonkybot Studios is putting a little magic in the holiday season with the release today of Spooky Troop: A Very Scary Christmas Soundtrack. The collection of original holiday songs and instrumental score is the newest offering from Stewart St John and Michael Plahuta, the composing/songwriting team who wrote the Tara Tremendous musical which was performed as a live concert at Feinstein’s/54 Below starring Micky Dolenz, Kecia Lewis, Annie Golden and a host of Broadway stars. The new album, which features tunes from — and inspired by —  St John’s hit kid’s podcast series Spooky Troop: A Very Scary Christmas, is immediately available at Apple Music, Spotify and other digital music services.

“We are so excited to finally present our songs from Spooky Troop: A Very Scary Christmas in one collection for the very first time,” says Plahuta. “They’re all inspired by what we love to do the most: bringing joy to the world through music.”

Spooky Troop: A Very Scary Christmas Soundtrack features 12 tracks that perfectly capture the festive feeling of the holidays. Singer Allie Jordan Butcher delivers a stunning vocal performance on the emotionally stirring “Within”, while Anna Bella Foster’s haunting vocals brings “Nevermore (Song of the Ice Fairy)” to brilliant life.  Other guest singers include Kellian on the classic throwback “It’s A Magical Time of the Year”, Jacob King and Maia McLachlan on the affirming duet “We’re A Little Different”, Rebecca King, Maia McLachlan and Kellian on the inspiring “When You’re Giving”, Stewart St John performing as the Demon King on the tongue-in-cheek “It’s Called Christmas Time”, and Ramsey Whitney on “That Christmas Feeling”.  This whimsical combination of tunes allows the themes of the holiday season — love, gratitude, sharing and friendship — to shine through.

“It’s the first time that many of these songs have been heard outside of the podcast series,” says St John. “With Christmas approaching, we thought it was the perfect time to share them with everyone!”

St John is the creator and writer of the Spooky Troop franchise, which revolves around seven supernatural misfits from different monster races who form a friendship when their world disowns them for being good.   Spooky Troop: A Very Scary Christmas is a special holiday audio story that revolves around the Spooky Troop friends discovering that the Demon King is plotting to harness the power of the Christmas Spirit in order to take over the universe.
