As 2019 draws to a close, NBC’s Today just released a list of the 10 Best Podcast for Kids and Tara Tremendous: The Secret Diaries made the list.  Created, written and directed by Stewart St John and produced by St John, Todd Fisher and Michael Plahuta through their Wonkybot Studios shingle,Tara Tremendous: The Secret Diaries is a musically-infused scripted audio series about an 11-year-old girl who accidentally acquires the powers of every superhero in the universe. The series hit #1 in the Kids & Family category on Apple Podcasts when it premiered, and is currently included in Apple’s Curated Content For Kids.

Three seasons and thirty-six episodes later the series continues to attract listeners with its ongoing story of Gen X super-heroine Tara Callahan as she battles aliens, super villains and frenemies while juggling everyday life at Power University and standing up against her politically corrupt Aunt Lucinda who wants to banish all superheroes from Earth.  Notable celebrity guest-voices have included Sarah Douglas (Superman, Netflix’ A Christmas Prince), Deborah Kennedy (Australia’s A Place To Call Home) and Gina Liano from the Real Housewives of Melbourne

St John and music partner Michael Plahuta composed 20 songs for a Tara Tremendous stage musical based on the podcast and performed a concert version in New York starring Micky Dolenz (The Monkees), Annie Golden (Netflix’ Orange Is The new Black) and a host of Broadway stars.  They’ve also developed the project as a live-action feature film musical and television series.

A special third season of the series, Tara Tremendous: The Egyptian Curse, was produced by Wonkybot Studios exclusively for Pinna, the premiere audio streaming network for kids.
