Characters will be introduced in a Special Halloween Musical Podcast Series

Riding on the success of its #1-rated superhero musical podcast series The Secret Diaries of Tara Tremendous, kids and family production and publishing shingle Wonkybot Studios has launched its next franchise, Spooky Troop.

Spooky Troop, described as “a story that takes place in the United Netherworld and revolving around seven supernatural friends who are born to do good in a wicked world”, will come to life as a limited-run podcast series premiering October 18, leading to the finale on Halloween. The debut of the first Spooky Troop book will follow.

“The Spooky Troop friends were born good in a wicked world,” said Stewart St John, creator, writer and composer of the monster franchise. “The kids all come from diverse backgrounds and show the monster world how to get along. Of course this frustrates the members of the United Netherworld, but over time the Spooky Troop will teach the grown up monsters that there’s more to un-life than being bad; that doing good has its rewards!”

The podcast is targeted at kids ages 3-7 and aims to teach lessons about friendship, leadership, resilience, diversity, compassion and the importance of learning to get along with each other.

“We’re thrilled to introduce children to another franchise that is positive, thrilling — and speaks to all kids, regardless of color, race or economic backgrounds,” said Todd Fisher, co-founder of Wonkybot Studios and Spooky Troop producer. “There’s a little bit of everyone in our cast.”

Characters include Willie the Werewolf, Zianna The Zombie, Stewart The Sorcerer, Valerie the Vampire, Todd the Oddbot, Delilah the Demon and Michael The Monster. Evila LeighDee, queen of the witches, and her comical crows Wikky and Woo, provide the ongoing conflict for the Spooky Troop.

Like the Wonkybot-produced Tara Tremendous series, the Spooky Troop podcast will feature a full-cast and sound effects, with original songs and original score by the musical team of St John and Michael Plahuta.

Hosted by narrator Wikkleson Wikkedbe, each episode takes listeners deeper into a thrilling story that finds the Spooky Troop coming together to stop the Demon King’s plot to destroy Halloween for the Pitifuls (humans).
